"In many paintings for this show, Carl Rowe has shifted his sights
slightly higher than usual. The weather has become an important element
in addition to the Idaho landscape. It is treated as a dramatic element,
reflecting our varying responses to our natural surroundings."
Connie Wood’s encaustic work is part of her ongoing explorations of antiquated
processes. In her current experiments, she's referring to techniques
used by the Greeks to paint the Fayum funeral portraits in the 1st and
2nd centuries A.D. A sense of place is at the heart of Connie’s work. While wildlife
plays a key role in her compositions, her use of formal elements and sly
incorporation of human characteristics leave her encaustic paintings
open to wide interpretation. Connie has taught thousands of students
over the course of her career as an art instructor using a vast variety
of media and referencing artists, techniques, and movements to broaden
her students’ sensibilities. Connie has maintained a professional show
record for the past 25 years and received a number of awards.
Her work can be found in private, corporate, and public collections.

This exhibit bridges the landscapes we inhabit to the seeds that helped
shape them. Like tiny microchip of information whose roots have traveled
through time and across continents, seeds hold the connection we all
have through the food we eat.

Launch - Paintings by Stacie Chappell June 4th- June 30th 2015 Opening Reception, June 4th 5-9 PM Artist Talk at the Gallery, June 20th, 2015 1-3 PM
Stacie Chappell’s vibrant paintings suggest movement and transition of form within spatial abstract landscapes. Drawing from the history of Abstract Expressionism and Formalist painting she layers each canvas with different application techniques; pouring and dying the canvas to doodling with markers or using handmade and manufactured stencils with acrylic spray. The artist say’s, “For me, my work has become much more complicated over the years as I continue to build upon a number of techniques, I want to include them all in the final piece.” While the artist draws upon intuition and memory for her work, Launch displays several new works inspired from snorkeling at the live reef in the Florida Keys this year. Current representation includes Gallery IMA, in Seattle Washington, with past exhibitions and collections in; Portland, Seattle, Kansas City, Missouri, and Boise, Idaho. Stacie is Adjunct Faculty in the Art Department and Boise State University and Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland, WA.

There are people out there who just want answers…we are not those people. We are the ones who love a good question. This show is about the questions, the experiments, the successes and maybe even the failures. That’s what we do, we ask questions.
Wild Outside March 1-31st 2015 | April Howland & Pat Kilby Wild Outside is a painting exhibition featuring new work by artists April Howland and Pat Kilby. The show explores aspects of the world outside, from its wildlife to its scenic vistas, and challenges viewers to consider their own relationship with the great outdoors. April’s rich paintings depict the natural beauty of Alaskan wildlife and Pat’s quirky landscapes explore the many ways in which we live and play outside. Both artists use vibrant color and bold strokes to bring the outdoors in and help us explore our ongoing relationship with the natural beauty of the American northwest.

Pipe Dream - any fantastic notion, hope, or story. In February at Gallery Five18 in Boise D’Arcy Bellamy- a Boise Artist-will showcase his unique style of creating abstract metal sculpture from steel pipe.
Bellamy’s work is raw and refined at the same time. His work celebrates art that is imperfect, impermanent and incomplete - an ancient eastern design aesthetic that is often referred to as Wabi-Sabi. Although he is dedicated and serious about his craft, much of Bellamy’s work is infused with a playfulness that attempts to surprise the viewer.
